My sister came to visit

I have had a good visit with my sister, Terri. She came down from Chicagoland and stayed with me for a week. We done a lot of shopping and then I taught her how to make hats. She made 2 while here. One each for her two older grandsons. Since they live up North and being in elementary school, they tend to loose their hats, so now she can always make them another one.
I think she will do well in the future.
The tomatoes are doing good but they would do a lot better if we just got some rain. It is in the forecast for this weekend but we will see if it happens or not.
Making more hats for my charity. Since I am making hats for teenagers and adults they take a little longer than all the preemie hats I made. LOL!

Missouri Loom Knitter

Hopefully it is going to be cooler tomorrow

They say the heat wave is over in Missouri, but I guess we will have to wait and see. I have been picking a few tomatoes but some of them have also gotten sunburned. But I have been working on a shawl on my DreamRing loom, it is going to take me a while to get it done. I am not very good at finishing things that take a long time. But I have decided that I will try and get this one finished. I really like small projects the best. Maybe I have ADD. LOL! Here are some hats that I made last week. This makes the total of 35 hats I have made for the little ones.
Now I am going to start making hats for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. I have been up there a few years ago and they live without all the nice things we have here in MO. I think the children could use hats as I am sure they loose them just like my grandchildren did. So that is my new charity and hope to get some done before it gets too cold up North.

Nothing new in Missouri

Not much to talk about today, except that I have been working on more hats for "Tiny Treasures". I want to help keep those tiny babies warm. I have been working on getting my youngest sister to work with her Knifty Knitter Looms, maybe after we can get together I will get her started on this hobby of mine. We have one big problems, we are about 500 miles apart so it is not that easy to get together. I know after I get her started she will love it. We talk on Instant Message quite often, but she has active grandchildren and she goes to ball games.
My grandchildren are on the East Coast and the ones here around Kansas City are adults. My oldest grand daughter is a Graphic Artist and my oldest grandson is a US Marine, currently stationed in Kaneohe Bay Hawaii. The younger ones that are on the East Coast, almost 10 years old, a set of twins, girl and boy. So we seen them once or twice a year only. I wish they was closer so we could be involved more in their lives. But I am not the only grandmother that lives a long distance from their grandchildren.

It's Monday! 7-18-05

Today is Monday, had a sad Saturday. We went to see our Grandson off, he had to return to duty to his Marine Base in Hawaii. He had been home on leave for 3 weeks. I hate the fact that he has to leave good ole KC. But he is proud of what he is doing and he is doing pretty well after being in Afghanistan for 7 months. I was really worried about him, but he was his old self and had fun with his family and friends.
Sunday, I went and worked on more hats. Got the ones done for my great nieces and now I am back to just making hats. Wanted to start doing something else, but right now, I don't feel like I can do a bigger project. My nerves are edgy and I can not get rid of this upper respiratory infection that I have had since June 20. Dr put me on antibotics and they aren't working too well.
My tomatoes plants are putting out tomatoes but something likes to take a bite before I can get them picked. They are just turning and here is a bite out of them. Thought it was the birds but maybe it is the squirrels. Who knows who is eating them. I want them for dinner.

A new day but it is still hot

I just went out and picked a couple tomatoes today. Can't wait until I have enough for a Bacon, Lettuce Tomato sandwiches for my DH & I for supper. I started on another hat for my niece. Made one for her big sister yesterday. One will be 2 in Oct. and the other will be 3 in Sept. Yes they are sisters. They live in Chicago suburbs and will need plenty of hats to keep their heads warm this winter. I am making them with the "dream ring" looms and I really like that as I can make the looms any size I want them to be. It takes a little getting use to, as they have wood pegs I was use to the nylon pegs on Cindwood looms. I also have the adjustible loom from Lynn Markman, so you can see I like to make things that I can adjust the looms for. Now I need to get the money to buy a loom from Decoraccents and then I will have at least one from our Yahoo groups vendors.
We are going over to my daughters house this evening, to say "See you later" to my grandson who is in the US Marines. He will return to his base in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii until they send him away again. He just got home from Afghanistan doing a tour of duty over "in the sandbox".

Today is going to be hot

Well it is 11 am and already about 92 degrees, so I guess I will make a couple hats today, then I will go down and start organizing things in my basement. Need to free up some space. Here is a picture of hats I have made in the last couple weeks.

These are for preemie babies and are going to mailed to Tiny Treasures.

So will see what other yarns I have when I go downstairs and go thru my stash!

Have a good day!

My Loom Knitting Life

This is about my life since I found the round Looms to make hats, scarves, doll clothes, baby blankets and who knows what else I can make on these things.

I have made hats for a local hospital and for a group called "Tiny Treasures" Also made hats and sent to a US Marine unit in Afghanistan.

So now I want to share my experiences.
